You know, I wonder about the purpose of these threads. Of all of the tattoo threads I see on this board, I've only seen one or two that have asked for advice about tattoos. The vast majority of them seem to only exist to put down people who have tattoos. I find then that people get very judgmental about those of us who have chosen to decorate our skin, and even reply nastily to well-worded and thoughtful posts. The people I find to be tacky on these threads are the ones who put us down, who insult us, who call us names and try to convince us that we've done something dirty and wrong. Why?
It's odd and all the slut this and that is what's trashy. Calling people sluts for getting tattoos, really? In some cultures tattoos are the norm. Are those people slutty? I don't get why someone doing something you wouldn't do can't just be someone doing something you wouldn't do. I don't have tattoos, I'm never getting any, but I don't care that other people have or get them, we all have agency and autonomy over our bodies and can decorate or not decorate them as we like. As for calling someone a slut, I can't believe adults with children are doing that in 2016. But then this site is full of women who love to wear pantyhose so clearly the age skews elderly rather than middle age.
The topic is "tramp stamps", not "all tattoos ever in the history of the world". Please try to keep up.
Ok, sure. But then there was this post:
No, never will either. I find tattoos trashy especially on women.
And the poster who insulted the tattoo I have on my shoulder blade. So, it's on your side, too.
Sorry - I didn't make those comments. I do think tramp stamps are trashy though. I'm 38 and none of my friends got one back when they were popular. A few have tattoos elsewhere.
PP. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you made all of those comments. "Your side" referred to the anti-tattoo folks. Honestly, I think there's a huge difference between "I think tramp stamps are trashy" (even though I don't agree with the phrase tramp stamp, I understand that it's a colloquialism) and "I think people with tramp stamps are trashy." It's the latter with whom I take issue.
