Here's my take on Yolanda's appearance at Lisa's b-day dinner. I do think she's sick, though have no idea with what. Quite possibly it's Lyme, since that has a reputation for being so difficult to treat. However... I felt that she went to that dinner for the sole reason of reminding everyone just how sick she is. I can't stand being around people who just want to talk about their illness, and nothing else. Here she was, at a festive occasion, and it seemed the only things she could talk about were her symptoms (the affected cough, the sweaty palms, etc.). I think she deliberately wore no makeup so that she could prove to everyone how ill she is. I don't care one way or another if a woman wears makeup or not, but I did think that was a very deliberate and calculated choice, designed to get everyone talking about her. It's not that I don't sympathize with her for being sick. I just hate it when people appear to enjoy getting attention for being sick (her bedridden, sickly Instagram photos - who does that??). If I was that sick, I would never have shown up at any event (especially a filmed one, duh!).
I agree with this 100%.
I know someone exactly like this IRL (coincidentally, they have lyme too). everything that comes out of their mouth relates to their illness and, more specifically, themselves. I do feel bad that they are ill but the narcissism displayed in the vast majority of their posts makes it a little more difficult to feel sorry for them. JMO.
+1 I'm always incredulous at the self-centeredness of people like this. Yes, we get it, you're sick - but they seem to have no clue that everyone has a story of some sort and that while they may be sick, the people they're boring with their tales of illness may also be going through something awful in their lives. It's like it never occurs to them that those around them could be suffering in some way too (either personally or through some sort of family crisis). Narcissistic is exactly the right word.
10000% agree. The person I know has been lucky enough to have WONDERFUL support during her illness, I know personally that multiple people in her life send her money, do kind things for her, take her on trips, etc. yet she chooses to focus on the 'people that are unsupportive'. and constantly complains about it on social media. It's so unattractive, and yes, do they realize that EVERYONE is going through something?
