None of what I wrote about Amy is an urban legend. She did attend public schools in DC (and probably would have graduated if her dad won reelection) and was accepted at Brown.

She attended DCPS elementary, BFD. A lot of people send their kids to public elementary. However by fifth and sixth grade, the affluent kids are majority enrolled in private. Key and Mann elementary are perfect examples [/quote]

That's because they all bail out of DCPS before they are stuck with Hardy middle school, which doesn't have a great reputation.  There is a higher public school retention rate in those upper NW neighborhoods that are zoned for Deal.[/quote]
