While I am not convinced that blows to the head were a significant factor, I agree that - from the initial reports - there seem to be parallels to the Tsarniev brothers case:

-all three terrorists seemed to have been well liked by classmates, who all voiced shock that the people they knew had turned to violent jihad;

-all three had the benefit of a western education and seemed to do fine academically;

-all three do not seem to have always been devout or come from overly devout families - which suggests fairly recent "radicalization"

As a guess, I would bet that the investigation of this terrorists computer will reveal increasing interest in online radical sites (even though he apparently did not post his own views beyond 2 kind of vague blog posts).

Perhaps this area needs to be a greater focus for DHS and other authorities to stop radicalization from happening.[/quote]
