Actually, no. Your OP asked if other women would appreciate your "zany" gesture. Your follow ups keep talking about how much she will love it. Since she is the only one matters in the situation, do what you want to do.

As you've heard here, and I suspect what disappoints you, is that many women here would not appreciate your purchase. NBD. Do what you want and move on.
