Cops just released surveillance picture of suspect - white dude 21 to 25 years old - he's considered armed and dangerous but I bet you they'll catch him...alive. An unarmed black man in South Carolina can get killed for having a busted taillight but I got $5 says they bring this dude in without a scratch.
I'm so tired of all of this police bashing. Give it a rest. Yes - this is a horrific and disgusting crime and this suspect deserves to spend his life in prison, if not worse. Suspects are sometimes injured by police when they are considered to be a physical threat to the police or refuse to obey a lawful order. Look at Wint (the DC mansion murder suspect) - he's a black man that was apprehended without a scratch - he did not resist arrest and followed the officers' instructions, as it should be. If an officer lacks probable cause for an arrest, that can be sorted out later. There's due process for that. Are there some racist and bad police officers? Of course. But the majority are just good people trying to do their job in dangerous and life-threatening circumstances. I'd love to see you give it a try.
Hmmm...you know the majority of police officers? And a lot of people would dispute what you consider to be a lawful order.
As I said, if an officer lacks probable cause (i.e., the order or arrest is not lawful), there's due process to sort that out later. How hard is it to be cooperative and respectful? It seems like common sense to me that you shouldn't scream at an officer, get in his/her face, or threaten them physically or verbally. I doubt that you know the majority of police officers either. But I bet you'd be quick to call the police if you were in any danger.
