. Frankly, if I was one of the other families and you asked for a refund, not only would I not cover for you, but I would probably not want to include you on vacation plans in the future as you seem like a difficult person to deal with.
Can you contain yourself and not make personal insults and labels? It's just a discussion. Hopefully, my friends are more understanding than you. When the other family decided to join us we could have said "no" too. Because we already booked a house and it's a little tight for so many people. We could have said they were "difficult" because twice before they said they would not be going. But yet we agreed. Because this is what friends do for each other. And because things happen.
What "friends do for eachother" is live up to their obligations to pay for something and not expect a refund like it is some sort of business deal. What you are proposing is not at all like what your other friend did. Your other friend took a while to make up their mind on whether they could go, then asked if they could join, than agreed to pair their share. You agreed to pay for something, choose not to live up to that obligation when it it way too late to mitigate that cost, and then expect your friends to cover you.
