You should already know whether you need surgery, I am not buying that you are going To find out and still don't know.  If your child hasn't had  surgery, then there are no open wounds on the skin.  How is your child bathing? How is that different from wading in the pool or the ocean?  Believe me, your ortho is going to say you can go.

You sound like you already made up your mind you don't want to go because you don't want to watch your child on thebeach during sunny days, but God forbid, what was your back up plan IF IT RAINS?????
