I have gender dysphoria. There is no doubt in my mind this is what bruce jenner suffers from. It is probable that there has been on-going therapy in his life. I have been in therapy to try to stop the onset of this. I an also on anti-deptessants anxieity reducing drugs to help me cope with feeling like i am living a life in the wrong gender. Gender dysphoria will consume a persons mind and life. Its not as simple as letting go of some "idea" that crossed your mind. Gender dysphoria is more common than most people know. The condition needs to be exposed, understood and excepted and treated as needed for individual needs. Sometimes transition is the only "medicine" to help this condition. Its not easy for people without the condition to understand how serious it is. To complicate matters, Gender Dysphoria can have different levels at different times. Its a complicated subject to say the least. But the point is, Bruce would rather NOT change his appearance! It is NEEDED because of the condition he SUFFERS from! I believe me, it is Suffering! Trust that Bruce has had multiple people tell him he is an embarrasment and that he will be riduculed and abandoned by many of his friends and family. Imagine if you had cancer and everyone turns on you because you lost your hair in treatment. It is a very similar feeling.
I am sorry you are suffering. I have a very close friend who is making the transition and it has been brutal for him. He passes beautifully now. But it's been really rough on his wife and children. They are in intensive therapy and seem to be doing so much better now than they were a year ago. He is definitely in a better place. I don't think he could have survived many more years trying to live as a woman. He had already made two unsuccessful suicide attempts. His immediately family was very supportive. His friends and his church have been supportive. His parents and siblings have pretty much disowned him. You are in my prayers. I hope you find peace, whether you choose to transition or continue therapy without transition. Please remember that is a ton of support out there. Reach out to those groups and let them help.
