Not in DC.  My child has been in almost every hip bar downtown, starting from about a week old.  I didn't let anyone other than 2 or 3 relatives touch her though until she was six weeks old.  Thd cold or snow wouldn't bother me as much as if it were very crowded, but I was very sensitive to germs in the early weeks.[/quote]

You brought your kid to a place that served food AND liquor. You cannot bring a minor inside ANY establishment that predominately sells liquor. It is illegal in every state.

I also have taken my (now toddler) to a bar many times.  I did get kicked out of the actual bar area when he was about 9 months old- apparently, according to that bartender, there is a law that prohibits anyone under 21 from sitting at the actual bar.  But, he's sat at the bar at other places.

BTW, the pp who said it's illegal in every state is totally full of sh*t.  In Wisconsin, you can actually drink at a bar if you're under 21 as long as you're with your parents or with your spouse (provided that your spouse is over 21).[/quote]

Ignore the whackadoodle who insists it's illegal in every state.  It's not.  It's illegal to serve a minor alcohol.  You can bring them into any establishment that serves alcohol (except those that offer adult entertainment), even those with tavern licenses (no requirement to serve food).  Many establishments do not permit minors to enter because they want to be absolutely sure that minors do not get served alcohol and/or because kids can be a huge pain in the ass.  Yes, parents who let your kids run around the bar and restaurant like it's your living room, I'm looking at you.
