I have some of the above mentioned unimpressive items, so I'll address 'em. :) --pure breed pet. It's a rescue. I love the breed. --Private school. Really? You think I'm sending my kids to private school to impress people? That's kinda nuts. --Mass market luxury cars. We have those, but I like the way they drive. They're not meant to impress. They're very comfortable. Yes, there really is a difference between driving a Honda and driving an Audi. --Vacation home in St. Barth. It's pretty there, and the kids can practice their French. It's not to impress, and we don't talk about it. Mustique, yikes. Can non royalty even buy there? Anyone can buy on St. Barth. Some prefer OBX, some MV, some Rehoboth. But Mustique?? I have to agree on the other stuff--no big logos, your clothing really shouldn't be a walking billboard for a designer. Labels belong on the inside. But if you like expensive stuff (and you can afford it), more power to you. I don't think everyone does things to impress others. Oooh, I forgot one. I don't highlight my hair or get mani/pedis to impress, I do it because I look better that way! Nobody wants to see scraggly nails and my gray hair! :)
Hon, no one CARES if you have gray hair or scraggly nails but you. Stop trying so hard to impress people.
THat's crap. THere are plenty of threads on hre complaining about how nobody wants to see anyone's ugly gray hair, fa ass, scraggly nails, crooked teeth, etc. People care. What a bitter nasty bitch you are. Clearly jealous.
Not the PP you are calling a bitch. I just don't understand why people judge each other on such trivial things. I'm guessing it's because they are insecure about those particular things themselves and they project. Those things just don't matter much to me. I used to be a pretty judgmental person until I had a big dose of reality. I have a SN kid who can sometimes be a bit of "spaz" but because he looks "normal" people always talk (loudly) about what a brat he is or how I've failed as a mother. Only once or twice have I heard "I think there's something wrong with him". "He's not normal". I've stopped judging people based on what's at the surface and I've started to get to know people. It's a good thing too. I recently had lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in 20 years. Her turret's was worse, constantly ticking, and her meds (coincidentally the same ones DS is taking) caused tooth decay and she had no teeth. She had them pulled and dentures ordered but they sent the wrong ones! Not once during our three hour lunch did I think about it or wonder what people thought of us though later I did think how cool it was that she was comfortable meeting in such a public space. I was amazed by her confidence. I have gray hair, the hands of someone who does manual labor, and I never wear make-up. However when I go out in public I am showered and my hair and teeth are brushed. I'm also usually dressed appropriately.
