I found this article useful.  Apparently, the recent homicide was the result of an interpersonal dispute that became tragic.  There isn't any evidence of active gang involvement or local DC crews involved (as I've now confirmed with multiple police officers).

This doesn't change the fact that my neighborhood (I live on Morris Place) is transitional, with real, documented crime risk (as referenced by prior MPD reports).  Details of the crime do matter, to give context and help better understand the types of risk, relative likelihood of specific kinds of events, and reasonable precautions.   I completely respect how others have less tolerance for risk then we do and might not understand why anyone would even want to be thinking about this kind of thing where they live. But everyone has a different perspective on risk and related choices.

While this neighborhood is not for everyone, we love it here, for many reasons and with eyes wide open.[/quote]
