It is common to project your own experiences onto others. Early childhood abuse / neglect / trauma is a definite risk factor for depression, however it is just that - a risk factor. So while a higher percentage of people who experienced trauma have depression, not everyone with depression had abuse or trauma in their lives. [/quote] Well (and nicely) said.
