Neglectful parenting has a high price. It's better to do the hard work when the kids are younger. But how many parents of little kids are even home? It's a string of daycare workers or nannies. No one really knows your kid.[/quote]

I think likely in this PPs case, abuse or neglect did play a role in her own depression. It is common to project your own experiences onto others. Early childhood abuse / neglect / trauma is a definite risk factor for depression, however it is just that - a risk factor. So while a higher percentage of people who experienced trauma have depression, not everyone with depression had abuse or trauma in their lives. [/quote]
