Actually, after several successful years in DCPS, I'm dreading my rising middle schooler getting accepted to one of the three privates we applied. Does anyone get that superficiality and being one of a select group is actually OFF-PUTTING to many families, down to earth families we would hope relate to our kids? We are simply growing beyond the limitations of public ed., hope our high achieving child may find smaller classes, quality arts programming, regular p.e. (which is a sad failure in DCPS),and differentiated instruction It would be awful to find these things are only an option if swimming among sharks. that's how so many posts sound on the private school line.
Oh stick it in your pie whole. This is such crap. Whose the pretentious one in this scenario? I can't get over the whole 80's era stereotype of Buffy and Brad being rich mean kids and thier parents insufferable snobs. This is not what everyone at these schools are like. Some of the meanest nastiest people I have ever come across in my life was during my high school years at Winston Churchill in good ol Montgomery County. I work my ass off to send my kids to what I think is the best possible school within our reach. I am not resentful of those who have more nor do i look down on those with less. It doesn't even cross my mind. I care about the school, my child's experience, classmates and friends. You come across as extremely insecure grasping at straws in an attempt to rationalize your emotions. This is your insecurity and of those others that feel similarly. It's complete nonsense.
