The schools are predominantly horrible failures that offer no benefits for average-to-gifted children. This isn't rocket science. The schools (GW, TC, and many more) have lots of kids whose parents never read to them. That's what happens in poverty. The schools and teachers are overwhelmed by the attention needed to keep them from dropping out the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Kids whose parents read to them are less in need and they get no attention. [/quote]
