I just can't imagine MCPS allowing a math teacher to teach, say, 5 or 6 kids this advanced math while the rest of the kids all crowd into another math class.[/quote] The letter mentioned that the method of delivering the 4/5 class would depend on how many students expressed interest, but some options mentioned were -- going to local middle school or another elementary school, delivering via distance learning with other students, etc. So, I don't think it's necessarily the case that schools will push to have full 4/5 classes even when not enough kids qualified to make a full class. I was a little surprised, because my child needs the acceleration, but I can't imagine DC doing well if the instruction is delivered via online distance learning at this age. [/quote]
