We could afford 1.5M when we moved 9 years ago which would have been fine in DC. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of private schools. I have a rat phobia (we have coyotes, foxes and other stuff out here but no rats). We wanted a big yard which wasn't available at any price in DC. My kids love riding horses which is right down the road. (Not willing to build a stable but we could if we wanted to...). We love the outdoors and prefer living where its right outside. Its nice that there are a good number of kids at the bus stop, neighborhood friends even though the lots are large, and no one wears ballet flats :-)[/quote]
