Mandarin is akin to Classical Arabic for Arabs, something you learn in school vs. speak at home. You're a lot more likely to draw in an embassy family than an ordinary immigrant family by limiting your native-speaking prospective parents to Mandarin speakers. Sounds like that's what's done now, and only a dialect-speaking new administrator could fix it. [/quote]
