[/quote] As a woman who had to do exactly this ^, I just have to re-post this and pray that this advice reaches others in need. Even with a protective order in place, the police don't care that there are guns in the house. They can't forcibly remove them (or wouldn't in my case). Fairfax PD literally took my ex's word that he gave the gun to a relative. As soon as I went back home and saw the reported gun still in the nightstand, I packed what I could and left. Sure, there's a chance that you'll get accused of abandonment, but you will hopefully save your own life. In my case, I got my life and eventually, the house. [/quote]
