We went to Disneyland for spring break last year. And we stayed at the Grand Californian- with multiple pools, a waterslide, and a brunch buffet with Mickey and co.

The one thing that my children still talk about from that trip? "That hotel that gave us free cookies."

It was the $110/night DoubleTree across the street from LAX. We were there for about 12 hours. It was a place to sleep before our flight home in the morning (didn't feel like fighting rush hour traffic from Anaheim the morning of.)

We took our kids to Aulani in Hawaii when they were about 6 years old. When we got back, DS1's kinder teacher asked him what the best part was--was it the pools, water slides, Disney characters, the beautiful mountains, swimming in the ocean, fun activities we did, etc.? Nope, he said it was getting to play Plants vs. Zombies in the kids club. [/quote]
