Most aren't now you get a video visit which makes sense because why get everyone else because you can't handle your cold? And need a doctor to tell you to drink more water and get rest.
Because you properly diagnose people, you do actually need to see them. I'm sorry that you've been so beaten down by the American Healthcare System, that you think highly paid physicians don't need to see the patients that they have in their practice, but they actually do. It would be so nice if we could all just self diagnose and didn't need them or the damn insurance, but I didn't go to medical school. They did. If they hate practising medicine so much, they need a different job. For example, they can guess over video that a person has a sinus infection, but the only way to actually diagnose it, is to take a look at the cavity. Lots of different things present with "flu like symptoms," but are not flu. Why are you so quick to dismiss the patient and give the practice so much grace?
PCPs ARE practicing medicine, OP. Because of your insurance company paying them pennies to manage your conditions, read your labs, and fight for hours for the tests you need and want, they can’t make ends meet leaving half their clinic schedule open for sick visits. They have to cram a patient in every 8 minutes, and the only way to do that is to book ahead. Most practices will keep NPs on staff to help manage the critical care load. Some even have an urgent care right within the practice. Find one of those.
