I find it so cringey[/quote] I do sort of feel that way but on the other hand it can also be really practical. One of my sisters went by double name at home growing up because her first name was the same as my moms. And I think the whole Mary Kate Mary Ellen Mary Ann etc grew up because so many girls were named Mary at one point in time. My daughter is a teen now and goes by just her first name but when she was little we often used both, in part because her first name is very short so saying both was a better way to get her attention and in part because her middle name is after my grandmother who had just died, so we liked to use it. When she went to school she preferred just the first so that’s what we use now. [/quote]
