The regional model is a separate thing that needs to pass. For some reason the board is inextricably linking it to the new boundaries. But it’s a different recommendation and a different vote I believe.
Not my understanding. BOE votes on the boundary study, that's all. The regional model is getting snuck in without a separate vote, which is why MCPS is insisting that the two are linked. BOE votes on whatever MCPS recommends, not the other way around. So if MCPS says they are the same, that's how BOE will vote. Also, BOE has already washed their hands of the regional model. They call it "operations" which falls under purview of MCPS, not BOE. So they say.
Not true. They are voting separately on the regional model. Basically a done deal though.
Agree a done deal in absence of intervention or a miracle, but how do you know BOE will vote on regional model separately?
MCPS website says they will vote on the "academic program plan" (regional model) in December 2025 and the new boundaries in March 2026.
At the last Board meeting they said the regional program vote will be in March. They will try to put it together with the boundaries so that there is a single vote, making it more likely to pass. But even if it's separated out, it'll pass. The BOE members will not oppose it at all.
