It's jealousy. I feel it, too. But here's the thing. If someone posts a proud announcement about their kid going to some 80%+ acceptance rate school, I don't feel scornful. It's only the ones posting about the elite schools that make me annoyed. So I recognize that about myself. I grit my teeth and comment "Wow wow wow! How proud are you! Congratulations to the whole family!" And then I silence further notifications about the post. :)
Well, at least your honest. But why the jealousy? Why the insecurity? Is it because you honestly think that in the end where a kid goes to college makes a big difference?
Honestly, I can't articulate it. I think about it a lot. Why do I care so much? My kid is going to be fine wherever he lands. He's a great kid. We're a great family. I've always been impressed by prestigious schools, I guess. Like if someone says they went to Princeton, I never, ever forget where they went. That said, I live in a rural area, own a small business, earn 7 figures and went to a state school. I know other highly successful, high earning people and none went to impressive colleges. And yet...I feel very stressed out about where my kid is going to go to college in a few years. Wish I didn't feel this way.
And here you are, letting us all know you make 7 figures and are highly accomplished. You have serious, serious insecurity issues and wildly misplaced priorities. I'd strongly advise that you seek therapy.
NP hey dummy, this is an anon board. See the difference? Smh
