Why? It's a source of revenue, and jobs are disappearing from Virginia like crazy.  Obviously, nobody wants gambling addicts, any more than we want to have alcoholics, but no one is against having bars (apart from some religious fundamentalists).[/quote]

It’s that the “revenue” is largely coming from the people who can least afford to provide it. Everyone hopes to lure the whales when they open a casino, but gambling is fundamentally a poor man’s pastime. I don’t know anyone in my UMC community that goes to MGM or Charlestown for fun. Even Vegas is passé. [/quote]

I have zero idea as to what is planned for Tysons...but usually the Casino hotels are huge and a major source of convention business.  Vegas really now lives or dies by business visits and conventions.

I think Gaylord right now seems to do a healthy convention business...so maybe Tysons is trying to get in on the act.[/quote]
