What did you think they should do? They have thousands of students and employees, a hospital, clinics, labs, etc. that rely on government funding. If they refused to negotiate, wouldn't they lose their funding and possibly pay a penalty on top of that? People have posted what Columbia and Brown had to do already. That would devastate a state school.

UVA's endowment is bigger than Brown's.

But neither of them should have settled. Negotiations with this administration are worthless; trump will come back for more because they've already shown weakness. UVA even negotiated that into their settlement! Trump can claim they are violating the terms at any time and reopen the sham investigations. [/quote]
