Is this the same guy who was Michelle Obama’s White House Chief of Staff??
She is the chair of the school board who hired him. And is now running for US Senate.
Oh, you're right: Des Moines School Board Chair Jackie Norris told reporters Monday that Roberts had been shortlisted by headhunters who conducted a criminal-background check. “There was nothing in the information that was given to us to allude to any question about his citizenship,” Norris said. Norris previously served as White House chief of staff to first lady Michelle Obama, according to the school board website. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/iowa-superintendent-resigns-after-ice-arrest/ar-AA1NCkAK?ocid=BingNewsSerp
I know Jackie and she is telling the truth. I haven’t talked to her in a decade, but I know her from Lafayette and she’s a very upstanding person who is civic minded to the core. Her husband John ran for governor. They run their family with a military precision, her two oldest are in academies. She isn’t sloppy.
Are you suggesting she's not sloppy but rather a "detail" person who approved his hiring anyway?
Let’s think this through…. Her husband was running for governor and her kids were in the public schools. Do you really think anyone is going to risk the fallout by knowingly hiring someone without a visa/citizenship? It makes no logical sense. She’s going to hire the best person for her kids and also because then she became a teacher in the system. Also, from a legal standpoint, Trump may demand Obama show a birth certificate, but you can’t racially profile new hires at that level. If they ask such a crazy thing there will be a lawsuit, that they would handily lose. Does that answer your question? I’m guessing no since you’re out for blood.
Thank you PP. your logic might be too much for MAGA brain but I appreciate this post.
Roberts appears he committed fraud on his I-9. I think that is the basis for Norris’ belief that he was a citizen. One could criticize (and this is just a statement and not out for blood) the Board for not using e-Verify, but for an Iowa city which hires a number of Drake, Iowa State, Northern Iowa grads from the Midwest they may not have seen the need for it. They will use it now. The problem I have with the Board on the known facts is his deception about a Morgan State PhD. The Board learned of this, and yet inexplicably moved forward. The known judgement issue pertains to his truthfulness on his CV and the Board’s response to it. It is sensible to question the Boards judgement on this score. And to inquire as to what objectives compromised their judgement. My late father founded a 77 office global search firm and he would have never have advised proceeding with a candidate who was not truthful about his education credentials. I heard quite a few stories from him about resume fraud.
