It's sad. It's sad when any married couple splits, especially one with children.
Men are not subject to the same criticism, and gaily go about their careers while their wives raise the kids and mommy-track or stay home.
That doesn't mean the men end up with happy home lives. I read several articles about Robert Redford's career after his death. They mentioned that he and his first wife made a joint decision to make Utah their home and raise their kids there, not in Hollywood. But Redford said that the marriage fell apart because he was rarely home. I don't think there are a heck of lot of men happily married to their first wives in Hollywood.
Samuel L Jackson, Courtney Vance, Matthew Broderick, Kevin Bacon, Matthew Mcconelhay )sic) are a few.
DP. But you’ve literally named a few of the many, many actors and musicians of that we know for the last three decades who aren’t divorced yet. I think that was the PP‘s point. We can literally list them off. they exist, but they don’t seem to be terribly common. For those five or six you named, I could easily list 10x that many who’ve divorced. Some more than once. Either way, some of these comments are harsh. Nicole and Keith were together over 20 years. She got him through a terrible time when he relapsed and went into rehab early in their relationship which I have a lot of respect for - it would’ve been very easy for her to walk at that point. I also think people are being kind of harsh about her projects. Big little lies is one of the most successful and beloved shows of the past 15 years. I personally loved the undoing and the perfect couple. Were they critically acclaimed masterpieces? No but they were really bingeable which is what most people were looking for in the last few years. And she just wrapped practical magic 2. Who knows if that will be any good, but it just shows that she has some beloved films that people remember from decades ago that they want to revisit.
