Charlie Sheen is a classic addict. Unfortunately I have multiple substance abuse addicts in my close family and Sheen is exactly the same. There is an actual term for this called the "charismatic addict". You can google it but essentially it is a way to manipulate people and mask insecurity. Addicts are often accused charming their way out of or through rehab. It also is a sign of narcissism. It creates a disfunctional cycle in which their environment orbits around them that allows of the addict to feel in control, which is called charismatic chaos.

Are ALL addicts charismatic, no, but the trait is very common. Charlie Sheen is a charismatic addict.
