My understanding is that many of the U14 kids over the last few years worked their butts off in extra workouts (pick your extra) and BSC refused to move them up, but the other ECNL teams in the area were happy to give them an extra look. They thrived at the new clubs. If your DC has worked xtra hard and BSC is not giving the looks they deserve for their hard work, the other ECNL teams will. Go elsewhere, no need to beat your head on the BSC wall, just because you think they are the only option. Lots of options 15 minutes away. Loyalty only go a as far as the clubs give loyalty to yours
This reeks of pay to play instead of meritocracy. BSC gave my child an opportunity because they destroyed the current BSC kids in trials, not because they were doing extra training. If my kid does not excel, they are on the chopping block next year for their spot regardless of how much extra training we pay for at BSC. Most parents have no clue how much extra training you need to exceed in the top teams like BSC as the kids get older.
Not always true, heard plenty of stories of high level/talent players being put on 2nd team and not moved up to 1st even though they were significantly better than current 1st team... Most of these players were welcomed to competing club's 1st teams, so it does happen.
They were not significantly better than current 1st team members. Probably the same as the weaker 1st team members or maybe even slightly better.
They were and this was not anecdotal, one was as good as the top few and a few others were at least as good or better than the middle - none were on par with the bottom half of the 1st team, all better. Confirmed by various coaches... not saying this is the norm, but it does happen
Sorry, if your player is that good, why would you let them be on a second team? Coaches lied to keep you at the club .
I have no skin in this particular game as this was not my kid or even my kid's age group... I know this from coaches I speak with and adjacent parents (not parents of the kids I mention)... the parents let their kids play on the 2nd team due to promises of 1st team roster the following year, which did not occur
