I’m getting increasingly disgusted with youth soccer and the number of money hungry people it seems to attract. How do greedy and corrupt people end up in charge of these clubs? Sadly I think it is greed. I’ve never seen anything like this Herndon/tournament situation. There’s something seriously wrong and I wish someone at the club would explain themselves. Herndon has to be financially benefiting from this arrangement. My guess is that all Herndon teams were entered for free so the club gets to keep those tournament fees from parents. Normally when we have a bad experience we just move on the next year and learn from the experience. But for older kids like mine who are in the midst of college recruitment, this is a huge problem. Logically, you can't put that many teams in a tournament for free. You have to pay for fields and referees. Someone might be getting a kickback somewhere though. [/quote]
