Embracing ones own culture, especially if it is a marginalized one, is really important for teens. Being proud of who you are matters, especially if society is structured to tell you who you are is lazy, violent, etc. Attending an HBCU can be immensely supportive for Black youth to give them a space to be themselves and not be judged for that.[/quote] Same goes for immigrant groups.
