I do think unfortunately the school counselors put such a big emphasis on fit trying to get students to spread out their applications across different schools it makes it that much more tough if they don’t get into a school they feel is a fit. Back in our day they said you’re qualified for these 3-4 schools, apply and attend the best of your options. And parents reminiscing about their amazing college experiences at now impossible to get into schools doesn’t help either.

+1.  OP, we are in a similar boat.  My son is starting to come around about going to one of his safeties, but he’s definitely disappointed and still hopeful a waitlist offer will come through.  Good luck to your child, OP.  I hope it all works out![/quote]
