Have the threads on here always been this antisemitic? I'm new to the Political Discussion board. I always voted straight Dem and didn't care about politics. Since 10/7 I've realized that I was asleep at the wheel.
Unfortunately, you seem very confused about what is anti-semitism and what isn’t anti-semitism. Express hostile views toward semitic people (spoiler alert: it’s not just Jewish people!) solely for the fact of their religion or their culture (in the case of Jewish people, a cultural identity that debuted in the late 19th century)? That’s anti-semitism. Criticize, denounce, scorn, boycott, short sell securities on their stock exchange, smite, encourage others to join you in doing so, or express any other form of disdain toward Israel in response to its policies and actions? That’s not anti-semitism.
Criticizing Israel is not anti-Semitic, but there’s often a double standard when it comes to Israel’s actions in the press and the court of public opinion. Some people see that as veiled antisemitism. For all the outrage on Gaza’s horrific suffering, where were all these people for the Sudanese, for the Rwandans, for the Cambodians, etc? Gaza is far from the only humanitarian crisis of the last 50 years and yet one of the only that has elicited protests and campus ire.
