Can you pay for a procedure out of pocket? Can you get a quote on how much a procedure will cost? Can you get a payment plan? Can you just write a check for say a [b]C-section [/b]when you are also paying $2600 a month in premiums?[/quote]

Do you mean a medically advised and peer tested reason for a c section? Or “just because” you feel like having a c section, anesthesia epidural team, surgical team, etc.

Guess what? In Canada and the UK under NHS you don’t even get a obgyn when in labor and delivery. You get one midwife helping many women at the same time.

If there’s a complication good luck. Hope the surgeon is close by or in the building. 
That’s why every employer in London also offers private health insurance in addition to NHs employee and employer paycheck payments. They use it for L&D and any other intensive surgery or treatment to avoid wait lists and lack of options. And thus hire less people and pay them less- since benefit costs are too high.

You know that private supplemental insurance is available me in those places, too, right?  It would be pretty stupid to opine upon such things without basic knowledge.  Providing basic healthcare to its citizens is what an intelligent and civilized country would do.  It doesn’t mean that everyone is getting Cadillac coverage.  Over here in dumbass land USA we’ve fooled a significant portion of the population that they don’t even deserve services for their money.[/quote]
