I have a SN kids at HB and neighborhood high school. The difference is night and day. I need to talk to a teacher at HB, I rarely wait 24 hours. But I rarely call b/c they reach out to me. OTOH, I had to request a meeting 3 times for a kid failing one class in neighbor high school. If I email teachers, it takes about a week, if they respond at all. Case carrier difference is...astounding. But not everybody needs SN services so let's cancel that benifit!
This isn't going to help your case, as HB isn't available to those who need it but only to the select few who win the lottery. APS has to educate all students, not those who have the luck to get a good lotto number.
APS is educating all students.
The post I was responding to said that teachers are HB respond to emails and reach out to parents and teachers at their neighborhood school don't. Let's be consistent.
I have had a kid at HB for years and I can remember exactly one time that an HB teacher reached out to me. I have reached out to HB teachers a few times over the years. Most responded. One didn't. After multiple ignored emails, it got so bad that I had to get admin involved. It sounds like the PP had similar back luck with a teacher at their neighborhood school, but that can happen anywhere in a public school system. HB is great, but it's still public school. People without kids there have it built up as something it's not.
That was literally one of the reasons given for HB's "specialness" and why it shouldn't be touched. If HB isn't so special, maybe there should be changes.
