Are these "illegal protests" he is worrying about mostly about Gaza? If so, I hope all the muslims who voted for him see what they got. They got the leopard-eats-your-face. I hope they will stand with people who believe in tradition, democracy, and rule-of-law now, instead of obvious thugs
Of course it’s about Gaza, and probably any anti Trump protests that will probably intensify as the economy collapses. Universities are probably about to get seriously wrecked over the next couple of years.
I'm trying to send my HS senior off to college this fall and I can't tell if these statements are chicken little ories collapsing a a real concern.
If we don't turn around the admin soon, here is what you will see: -Universities collapsing as fin aid gets pulled -Universities collapsing as funding gets pulled -Universities collapsing if the economy tanks (normally, this is good for two year colleges, but see above) -Universities collapsing because faculty and staff bail out of fear and funding cuts. -Vital research cut off at the knees
True old school liberals support the collapse of the universities. They have become cross-generational income inequality machines in which young students are enslaved by debt to fund big salaries for baby boomer administrators. The DEI boom has been amazing for the older generations, as hundreds of highly paid DEI administrative positions have been created at EACH big University in the country. We're literally eating our young people. Same with housing policy. Baby boomers want rising home prices, and if their kids can't get houses or start families, too bad.
No, they do not. They want more access to financial aid, less predatory loans, some solution for tuition costs. They absolutely do not want less access to education for fewer people. Where do you come up with this stuff?
Who said anything about less access to education? What should get wrecked is the predatory loans and the insane % of administrators to teachers. True old school liberals want MORE education for MORE people, MORE affordably. And we want an end to the should-be-illegal employment requirements for people to have four year degrees from "accredited institutions." That has enabled the predatory loan system and that has enabled baby boomer admins to live off of young students who HAVE to pay a fortune to an expensive college in the "accredited" oligopoly just to qualify for most paying jobs. We need much more price competition, much more competition by education type (how about a 1 year coding degree, for example), much less government involvement. Let's go. Compared to most countries, our university system is a financial parasite gobbling up a LOT of economic value that should belong to the students, and DOES stay with students in most countries. Having to go into debt to "qualify" for a job is sick! It's like one of those company towns where the mine owns the grocery store and the workers are always in debt to their employer.
