I would like to be wrong for my own kid’s sake. But, for example, Bowdoin takes sports (squash) recruits from our school and area and odds seem to be nil for others. Chicago seems tO accept in ED only. Williams seems ED only too.[/quote]

Bowdoin is a very hard admit from our T10 private (in nyc). Penn is easier. Dartmouth is easier. [/quote]

Bowdoin and Midd have too many ny applicants. From the DMV these two take 3rd decile kids in ED every year, unhooked. Ivies never go that low.

Not true at my kid’s school for either Bowdoin or Midd. Some recruited athletes in top 20-25%, but no unhooked kids (at least no hooks we know of) outside top decile. Give me actual examples, please. [/quote]

This is from Scoir (DMV private school)

Middlebury: about 30 kids applied over the past 5 years, 6 got accepted, with average GPA of 93 and average SAT of 1400. Not a single kid in the top 2 deciles.

Bowdoin: about 15 kids applied during the same period, 3 got accepted, with average GPA of 96 and average SAT of 1500. One athlete with lower stats, and 2 kids in the top 1/2 decile. [/quote]
