I grew up in McLean and people have been complaining about this since the 80s.
Same
lived in McLean for 30 years and don't understand who runs the place and why are they so against every idea and how are they still alive? Identify yourselves!
who/what is the governing body?
Fairfax County Government
Technically yes, but the McLean Citizens Association seems to control these things, even though they have no authority.
What do you mean by “technically yes”? McLean is not a town. It’s an unincorporated part of Fairfax County and the Citizens Association does nothing except vent a lot of hot air.
Seems to me lots of ideas to “vitalize” McLean come and go but at the end of the day it’s the #$#$& MCA board that votes down everything. But we do have a “parade” and Christmas tree at the tree island intersection of chain bridge rd and old chain bridge road. It’s hilarious. And sad.
Yup, they are old and obstructionist. They pretend to be the “voice of McLean” but they don’t represent anyone under the age of 60. More people need to join to get their voice to actually speak for the people who live there. Or people in charge need to stop listening to them.
