Training for new employees includes anti-union stuff in their videos.

One of the stupidest people I ever hired, to my regret, had had a corporate job at Target. She proved to be the definition of an empty suit. I also had other employees who had been store managers. They had nothing good to say about it but mostly said nothing.

There is always a help wanted sign outside because they churn through people.

They most certainly do not! I worked there PT for a few years (left in Dec 2023) and they do NOT burn food/merchandise. There is no incinerator on the premises and they're not lighting stuff on fire behind the store! They box up the stuff to be sold to places like Ollie's / Goodwill / anyone who wants to buy pallets.

It is a lie though. Your “son” is lying to you - (probably is no son, just made up rage bait). I’ve worked at several stores and I know they do not do this.  After it’s salvaged, it’s boxed up and sent off to liquidators or some stores send to goodwill. Go swing by an Ollie’s or similar store and you’ll find all that NOS (new old stock…a retail term you wouldn’t be familiar with). Or find a local liquidator and purchase or bid on a pallet. It’s all right there.
