This. A hook is something that:

Allows someone with lower stats to be admitted over someone else and/or

Gives the app preference for an early admission and/or

Allows someone with good stats to be admitted over others with good or better stats

- low income
- recruited
- first gen
- location you’re from (rural, state where the school has few to no applicants)
- famous/rich kid or parent(s)
-minority

You are 100% wrong. Minority status CAN be considered - and is - as part of a student’s lived experiences expressed thru essays. It can’t be a primary factor but can be considered holistically.
