It’s not bad. Got a family, a great, funny wife who’s tough and smart and my best friend, two young adult sons starting to get their sh!t together and make something of themselves. Current job is m’eh, but certainly easier than sone other things I’ve done in life. Didn’t go to an Ivy. Army combat Vet of OEF and OIF, screwed by the VA (like everyone else). No grandkids yet, thankfully. Need another decade before I can accept that. Keep our yard tidy and grass mowed and help my neighbors all the time with stuff. Was a volunteer firefighter for years, but my increasing deafness from combat operations put a stop to that. I used to love seeing concerts, now, it’s all sounds like it’s underwater. All in all, it’s been a fun ride so far. So being me isn’t bad at all. And I’ve certainly given our country more than you have, so there’s that. Hope that helps you with your imagining thing. You got paid for your service. Spare us this bullshit about giving more to the country than us. You aren’t entitled to anything, much less deference.

I don't mind acknowledging here or to my friends in real life, that this weird hero worship of military, like they 'gave so much' is absolute crap. It's a job that you signed up for, got paid for, and finished. You are no more a patriot or more American than anyone else, so shove it. You did not earn my respect, and certainly don't have it here.

Exactly,  I have a friend who never saw one-day of combat and in fact was never deployed to a war zone but pulls out that military identification for discounts every place that will give military discount. [/quote]
