If it’s leaking every night you should try something else. You might have better success with just a regular diaper that you can adjust the tapes to fit. They make a size 7 now that can accommodate bigger kids.[/quote]

My daughter is almost 8 and wears a pull up to bed.  Yes, they do leak sometimes, I don't see her actually agreeing to wear a diaper let alone fit in one.  Even with her being small for her age, I don't see them fitting.  Do you get the adult ones?[/quote]

It took a couple of nights for her to get used to it, but the size 8s still fit well for us. When we didn't have a leak she was okay with it and it's been the routine for 2 years. We try pull ups on occasion but she's not really got a size that fits well at the moment. When she does we'll move over, probably in a few months [/quote]

No myself or DH put them on her still once she's finished in the bath. She doesn't mind it at the moment but if there was challenge from her then we'd go back and try the pull ups. She's the oldest child so enjoys the extra bedtime attention and much prefers not waking up in damp bedding as happened before.[/quote]

No, not like a baby. She has to lay on her bed to put them on but it's a quick process and then she gets ready herself. She found them uncomfortableputting them on herself, but also said it was as uncomfortable having to wake up to wet bedding.It's about 30 mins before bedtime, we read before bed and then it's lights out. She never needed the toilet before bed in her pull up. If she asked to go at all again, we'd probably risk the leaks we had previously.[/quote]

She has to go before we put the diaper on. She's mostly fine in the day. She does still struggle to hold for a while so there is the odd accident in the car for example.  We bring spare clothes for those to make it easy to sort out. We've been through a few paediatrician visits and they think she has overactive bladder so we expect these. It will improve with age, but essentially her bladder isn't quire as mature as expected for an 8 year old.

I would still make her try to go right before she gets into bed.  30 minutes may not seem like a lot but I would still have her try to go.  I would also have her take on as much responsibility as a big girl getting ready for bed.  Does she get up and go first thing in the morning?

I make sure my daughter goes before any car ride.  It's a good 40 minutes to the nearest Walmart here.  It's been a while since she had an accident in the car.  I believe the last time was that we were on a dead stop on the highway.  Can she or has she asked to wear something when in the care depending how long the car ride is?
