Gun ownership is not mandatory in the US. Gun ownership is not a requirement to live in the US.

You believe having guns reduces crime? I think the statistics in the US show the opposite. On the other hand there are plenty of countries where gun ownership is illegal or highly regulated and their crimes rates are much lower. Japan had 3 non-gang-related gun homicides last year. But you obviously think they need guns to reduce shoplifting. [/quote]
