How is the ISL race shaping up? Potomac seems primed to make a run. They have a ton of Capital Blue players.
My take on the top 4: 1. Stone Ridge (clear favorite) -- Several top players and more depth than any team in the ISL; 2. Preseason Tie -- Potomac, with loaded 2025 class, and some nice contributors in 26 and 27, will fight it out with SSSAS assuming the Saints get their injured players back at full strength 4. Visi -- Lost a lot to gradation, but may have the best single player in the DC area now (class of '26) with the 3 time MET player of the year from GC graduating.
Not sure if there would be any new info since this was posted, and it still looks right to me. What do you think?
Someone on the 2026 Commitments page (at #73) did a nice write up by ISL and WCAC school on the number of commits, from what club, and to what school. That was new information for me since I posted the above. It doesn't change my top 4 order, but very interesting to note that: --SSAS has eight (EIGHT) 2026 commits, all ostensibly healthy, in addition to 3 from 2025 (11 total); --Visi has four (including the ND commit), on top of their strong four commits from 2025 (8 total); --Potomac has two 2026 commits, in addition to their big six from 2025 (8 total); --Stone Ridge has three in 2026 in addition to four from 2025 (7 total). Not that number of commits is the end all/be all when assessing the relative strength of a high school team, but when you get the point where you can put out almost a full starting line up of Junior and Senior commits like SSAS can this season, that is impressive. I will stick with the star power and overall depth from Stone Ridge (believe they had both Freshman and Sophomores start last year), but SSAS's strength in the 2026 class, and Potomac and Visi's upperclass leadership, are going to make this a very interesting ISL race. Good luck to all the teams to stay healthy and enjoy the chance to compete. The upper tier of the ISL AA division will be running out D1-level teams.
