He was 19 to her 14. I am a little older than they are and can say that in my world (suburban NY) no one would have batted an eye toward a couple of those respective ages back then. Plenty of 14 yr old girls had french kissed. I briefly dated a 19 yr old as a 14/15 yr old, and in college dated a senior as a freshman. Even in hindsight with a 50 yr old’s perspective, I would never say I was taken advantage of.

Bullshit. I'm a Gen X'er and this was creepy as all hell in the early 90s. 14 is an 8th or 9th grader, 19 could be a college sophomore. That age spread was not uncommon during high school in the 80s.  By the mid 90s it became icky.

I graduated in 1989 and another in 1985.  Lots of freshmen girls dated seniors.  I had several high school friends dating college guys, and knew a few dating men in their early 20s (like 16/17/18 dating 21/22/23/24 year old men, although they did have to sneak to get that past parents.)  Several of them married and are still married.

This particular thread is in response to a poster who said that age spread was not uncommon during high school in the 80s/early 90s.

You keep saying we are lying, but there are multiple posters who actually went to high school in the 80s/early 90s who are telling you that age spread was not uncommon at all during that time.[/quote]
