Other than in law school, it seems Michigan and Berkeley are the ones competing and UVA is generally inferior. Harvard is also inferior in some departments to Michigan and Berkeley — especially engineering.

Yet Harvard undergraduates make more than Berkeley, Michigan, and UVA undergraduates in engineering, technology, software, consulting, law, finance, and marketing.

Harvard grads in engineering and CS generally go into finance or consulting regardless, which distorts the pay averages. Whereas Michigan grads in those fields do actually go into engineering and computer science, which pays less than Wall Street.[/quote]
