The rest of us do not need to worry about Lizzo's body size. At all. Ever.
Exactly.
Do you want to be seated next to her on a plane?
I think the two seats she would be required to purchase would give you plenty of room to be the ass that you are.
Ahhh I'm not the "ass." I was seated for 90 minutes next to a similarly obese woman who also had an extended seatbelt. I never complained or asked to move because she was lovely to talk to, and I didn't want to hurt her feelings. My head was partially in the aisle, I had a crick in my neck for two days, and got jostled anytime someone walked doen the aisle.
Awww poor baby.
Your response is not unexpected.
because you're lying. and you ARE an ass.
NP. I don’t see it. This is one of those rare instances where someone asks how you are personally affected, and someone gave a very specific answer. You don’t have to like the answer, but it’s very specific and very accurate and many people experience it. And it doesn’t make the person an ass to answer the question.
I'm the one you're responding to. How many years ago did airlines deal with this issue? They require passengers of a certain size to purchase two seats. So she pulls one example out of her ass that could technically affect her if true, but no airline allows this. And if they did she should have spoken up instead of harboring resentment against fat people.
I agree that the airlines are problematic but you’re dreaming if you don’t think they push this envelope. Stories on this board alone show travelers who purchased two seats being forced to give one up. That’s a fact of life. Sorry, just is. And there is no way in hell that you’d be applauding her for speaking up as you said. No way. You’d be calling her an ass for fat shaming. And YOU lie if you claim otherwise.
Oh please! You can advocate for yourself and not shame someone at the same time. Grow up. And for the record, I'm not even overweight much less obese, but the constant harassment, shaming, and blatant disrespect for fat people is disgusting. At worst, you are marginally impacted. You know what else impacts me on flights? Screaming children!!! people who don't shower. People who snore. Deal with it.
Aw poor baby.
Not very bright, are you? I'm not the one starting threads and complaining about any of those people. You are. Poor baby.
Dodo I didn't start this thread or complain about anyone. But you. Cuz you're an a$$.
Oh you're here to agree with me that we shouldn't be discussing Lizzo's weight and should leave her and other fat people alone to live their life. Great! Glad we are!
Not only do I think we can discuss Lizzo‘s weight because she’s a public figure and has been a strong advocate around acceptance of obesity under the umbrella of body positivity and she therefore influences others, I believe we have a moral obligation to do so. Until we as a society start to no longer accept the rates of obesity plaguing this country our food supply and healthcare and other social services it will all remain crap. And for us to no longer accept this we need to call it what it is. You acting like it’s not up for public discussion isn’t serving anymore.
How dare she not hate herself?!?!? Your rant is reminiscent of those about immigrants, or any other scapegoat this nation creates. It peppered with just enough truth but fails to consider ALL of the nuances.
You are not even thinking rationally. I never said she had to hate herself, but she also doesn't have to preach how great it is to be obese. The more we accept it, the more it will continue. And I'm noting that it's the systems that are at fault, not her as an individual. She obviously doesn't love being obese, or else she wouldn't be posting about her efforts to lose weight. She's doing the responsible thing by letting people know that it's no longer acceptable to her. Are you saying you know her better than she knows herself? Calm the F down and understand that this is a societal problem that we've come to accept. Get over yourself and stop putting words into people's mouths to serve whatever agenda you have going on. It's indicative of our healthcare crisis and you know it.
