Ahhh I'm not the "ass." I was seated for 90 minutes next to a similarly obese woman who also had an extended seatbelt. I never complained or asked to move because she was lovely to talk to, and I didn't want to hurt her feelings. My head was partially in the aisle, I had a crick in my neck for two days, and got jostled anytime someone walked doen the aisle. [/quote]

NP. I don’t see it. This is one of those rare instances where someone asks how you are personally affected, and someone gave a very specific answer. I'm the one you're responding to. How many years ago did airlines deal with this issue? They require passengers of a certain size to purchase two seats. So she pulls one example out of her ass that could technically affect her if true, but no airline allows this. And if they did she should have spoken up instead of harboring resentment against fat people. [/quote]

I agree that the airlines are problematic but you’re dreaming if you don’t think they push this envelope. Stories on this board alone show travelers who purchased two seats being forced to give one up. That’s a fact of life. Sorry, just is. Not only do I think we can discuss Lizzo‘s weight because she’s a public figure and has been a strong advocate around acceptance of obesity under the umbrella of body positivity and she therefore influences others, I believe we have a moral obligation to do so. Until we as a society start to no longer accept the rates of obesity plaguing this country our food supply and healthcare and other social services it will all remain crap. And for us to no longer accept this we need to call it what it is. You acting like it’s not up for public discussion isn’t serving anymore. [/quote]

You are not even thinking rationally. I never said she had to hate herself, but she also doesn't have to preach how great it is to be obese. The more we accept it, the more it will continue. And I'm noting that it's the [I]systems[/I] that are at fault, not her as an individual. She obviously doesn't love being obese, or else she wouldn't be posting about her efforts to lose weight. She's doing the responsible thing by letting people know that it's no longer acceptable [I]to her.[/I] Are you saying you know her better than she knows herself?
