MVSA tryout registration opens today at noon: https://www.mvsavbc.org/club-tryouts-registration Next season fees are also posted: https://www.mvsavbc.org/club-fees We are not an MVSA family (didn't make one of their teams), but we participate in as many of their clinics / rec activities as we can. They should know how much we appreciate them for offering these reasonably priced opportunities and putting a pressure on the club fees in Maryland. Without this pressure, greed would likely prevail: see how the fees keep ballooning right across the Potomac.
Keeping fees low is great, and should be supported. MVSA being around certainly doesn't hurt. But there is enough demand for club volleyball in Montgomery County that clubs could easily charge VA prices and still get players. There are even clubs on MD side that are charging high prices, as discussed on this thread. The other big factor keeping prices low is that many of the clubs in the western part of Montgomery County have a mission to give players access to volleyball, and try to live that mission. For example, multiple USAV Try Volleyball free clinics were hosted by Montgomery County clubs. Their rec leagues and fall programs are priced very low too. If you want to keep costs low in the area, make sure to keep supporting those clubs.
