I’m a democrat and while I don’t want a ‘red wave’ (I’m voting for Harris & Alsobrooks, since I don’t want the Senate to flip), I don’t know what other options I have anymore for local politics. Schools overcrowded and standards rapidly declining, taxes continuing to rise with no real accountability (I haven’t forgotten the $14m electric buses debacle in MoCo), cramming through zoning changes by handwaving away real concerns … in pursuit of equity and inclusivity, we have lost the plot. I’m anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-homophobia with the best of MoCo citizens. I want people to be safe and welcome in our community. I’m also tired of elected officials telling me I’m “-ist” for asking why kids aren’t learning to read, pointing out no research has been done by the MoCo Planning Committee on infrastructure effects of upzoning, and being tired of being told that the uptick in crime isn’t real, since it ‘was worse in the 90s.’ I feel like I'm in upside down land. I’m at the point where, if I could find a legitimate moderate republican candidate who is pro-choice, I’d be voting for him/her. I can’t be the only democrat feeling this way? If it weren’t for the GOP’s backwards views on abortion and gun control, I’d be voting Harris/Hogan, frankly.
This is a very peculiar way to think. It's like you're either a troll or dealing with a great deal of cognitive dissonance, or you're so gullible as to have bought into right-wing propaganda about DEI, CRT and other phantom menaces. No elected officials are calling you "ist" for the things you say you ask. So, yeah, you're kind of the only Democrat "feeling this way." Actually, the fact that you didn't capitalize "Democrat" in a post where you purportedly express concern about kids allegedly not being able to read (which isn't even a factual thing), it points more to "troll." No one is buying it.
